Fire Pro Flex submitted the company's patented line of Fire Retardant Tape Edge Sewing Thread to The Lilly Management Group early in 2009.  Fire Pro Flex's FR Tape Edge Sewing Thread gained certification for the product in early-Summer of 2009.  Lilly Management Group is consdiered one of the premier private testing centers for fire retardant products, for the mattress industry in the United States.  Liily Management Group's  FR/PRO Prototyping service has been reviewed by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Underwriters Laboratory (UL).  Manufacturers of and suppliers to the mattress industry wanting to be assured of CPSC compliance have long viewed Lilly Management Group's testing as an industry benchmark.

In January 2005, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC) announced plans to revise the standards for "open flame" flammability of mattresses and mattress/foundation sets in the United State.  The CSPC, in an attempt to reduce deaths, personal injuries, and property damages caused by "open flame" fires attributed to mattresses and mattress/foundation sets, determined the new regulations based on research by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).  According to the CSPC, these particular fires attributed to over three hundred deaths, one thousand personal injuries, and two hundred-fifty million dollars in property damage, in the United States, in the years between 1999-2002.
